The Bunny Battled the Bands

bobWhen we received the invitation for the Gorilla Music Indianapolis Battle of the Bands at The Emerson Theater, we wondered…do they know 1) we are twice as old as the other musicians, 2) we don’t play music you ‘mosh’ to and 3) we’ve never played a ‘battle’ before.  Plus, people would have to pay $12 to get in for just a half hour performance. Was it worth it? You bet it was!! We had no idea how amazing the experience would be.

Photo Jan 10, 4 45 09 PMEveryone at The Emerson was friendly and helpful. We chatted with the other musicians and they gave us advice. We learned how a battle of the bands works – how you load in and how the back line gets set up. We played first, so we had no idea what to expect. Our hearts were racing as the lights came on and we were off and rockin’ the originals.

The light show was amazing and we had a good crowd. Everyone applauded and cheered and it was a fantastic experience.  We felt like complete rock stars!

Voting wasn’t until 1am, and there were 12 bands following us and we didn’t stay to see who won. It wasn’t about the ‘battle’ – it was an amazing stage to play. Thank you to everyone who came out. It was great to have friends in the audience (with bunny ears!) We appreciate your support and thanks for a great experience.

The Bunny Battles the Bands on Jan 10th

This is probably one of the oddest gigs we could have ever gotten. We’re not young whippersnappers and we don’t play the music you’d probably hear in a Battle of the Bands, yet we will be rockin’ our socks off and having a great time!! The Bunny plays a half hour set – 26 minutes of originals+ 1 fun cover tune – at the Emerson Theater on Saturday, Jan 10th. We don’t know what time yet (hope to find that out on Thursday), but I bet it will be early – like 4 or 4:30pm. Tickets are $10 advance and $12 at the door. We are filming a music video also, so if you have time and want to swing by, we’d love to see you! Email the Bunny for tickets and we’ll send the time when we know.

Carmel PorchFest – what a fun adventure!

fbffblog2We are very thankful to have the opportunity to play Carmel’s PorchFest. The City of Carmel put on its 1st PorchFest, bringing 50 acts into the neighborhood and allowing music fans to sample different artists with 30 min sets. Fuzzy Bunny Fish Fry was honored to be chosen to play at Porch 19 and we loved our hosts at Old Towne Carmel Bed and Breakfast. They were very welcoming and had a lovely porch.

fbffblog1 I was impressed how well the event ran. There were a ton of volunteers and everyone was so friendly. Golf carts brought our gear to the porch. Emily was our awesome stage manager (and a volunteer). When the blues act across the street finished their set, she gave us the go sign and off we went.

We got a shout out from the Indianapolis Star and Current in Carmel and folks seemed curious about the Fuzzy Bunny Fish Fry show, so we had a nice gathering of folks at Porch 19. And the weather was simply lovely for late summer, sun shining and not too hot. We appreciated the opportunity to play there and hope to be chosen again next year.

Jon E. Gee’s Autumn Music Fest!

amf2014-5Jon E. Gee’s Autumn Music Fest was also a wonderful experience. The Bunny got to play on our biggest stage yet while benefitting Jon E. Gee’s Gift of Music foundation, helping music programs in schools. The Fest had a VIP tent where we could have a VIP guest list (thank you to those that came out) and we were escorted to the stage to play our set, then escorted to the VIP tent with our guests.

amf2014-8These were all firsts for us and we felt like rock stars!! We seem to conjure up some sort of weather issue when we play outdoors and sure enough, the wind kicked up in a little microburst that blew off my hat and tipped over a mic stand – all during “Riding the Storm Out”.

Fuzzy Bunny Fish Fry wishes to thank everyone who came out to the show and also to Jon E. Gee and Mrs. Gee for an amazing experience. See you soon!
